THE AMERICAN JEWISH EXPERIENCE THROUGH CINEMA
At our general meeting on March 15, Eric A. Goldman presented a program titled The American Jewish Experience Through Cinema. The meeting was held at Temple Emeth in Teaneck.
Dr. Goldman, a scholar on Israeli, Jewish and Yiddish film, is an exciting, engaging and informative lecturer who holds a Ph.D in Cinema Studies from New York University and graduate degrees in Contemporary Jewish Studies and Theater Arts from Brandeis Unversity. He is presently adjunct professor of Cinema at Yeshiva University and film critic for The Jewish Standard. He was curator of film for the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research and was also a member of the Educational Advisory Committee of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.
For over a decade, Dr. Goldman planned and moderated the Israeli film series, “Lens on Israel,” at New York’s 92nd Street Y. Dr. Goldman has also produced and directed for radio, television, film and video and has authored and produced over a dozen DVDs. He most recently curated the film program for KulturFestNYC. Dr. Goldman has written extensively on the Jewish experience in film. His most recent book, The American Jewish Story Through Cinema, was published in 2013. He is founder and president of Ergo Media, a New Jersey-based video publishing company.
