STUDY GROUP. NOV. 22. FRAIDY REISS: UNCHAINED AT LAST

headshot-fraidy-reissDid you know that child marriages are legal in the United States and that thousands of children as young as twelve have been wed? Our speaker for our second study group, Fraidy Reiss, has experienced this incredible situation first hand. When she was only nineteen years old, her family arranged for her to marry a man who turned out to be extremely violent. With no education or job and living in an insular religious community where only men have the right to grant a divorce, Fraidy felt totally trapped. Her disturbing story is one of personal survival.

Fraidy has gone on to establish and lead the non-profit organization, Unchained at Last. This group is dedicated to helping women leave or avoid arranged/forced marriages and rebuild their lives. Come hear Fraidy tell her heartfelt story and how she is now helping others.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 22 at 1:00 PM at the Riverside Mall Conference Center. There will be a charge of $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Refreshments will be served. For more information contact Marilynn Friedman 201-568-0145 or marisfried@aol.com.
