NCJW BCS HONORS GRADUATING SENIORSAt its recent board retreat, National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section awarded $1,000 college scholarships to eight outstanding graduating seniors. In addition to their high academic achievements, these young women demonstrated significant leadership skills, creativity and commitment to extracurricular activities in school and in their communities. The wide range of their interests is particularly reflective of how far women have come in recent years. The winners of the Marjorie G. Aerenson Memorial Scholarship are Juliann Barbella from Teaneck (Bergen County Academies) and Lindsay Ellen Pressman from Franklin Lakes (Ramapo High School). Juliann plans to pursue engineering, computer science and art at the University of Pennsylvania and Lindsay will attend the University of Connecticut and plans to major in animal sciences. The Zimmerman Family Scholarship recipients are Jennifer Ryan from Montvale (Pascack Hills High School) and Whitney Rosenfeld from Haworth (Northern Valley Regional High School) . Jennifer will study biology at Wake Forest University while Whitney plans to major in marketing and public relations at Ithaca College. Alexandra Gluck from Woodcliff Lake (Pascack Hills High School) won the Bach-Fuld Scholarship and will major in computer science and business at the University of Michigan. Emma Parish (Tenafly High School), the recipient of the Kabakow Family Foundation Scholarship, will attend Princeton University and study political science and international relations. Jessie Cooper from River Vale (Pascack Valley High School) won the NCJW BCS Scholarship and will attend Penn State University and major in engineering. Anna Prisco from Upper Saddle River (Bergen County Academies), the winner of the Wolfeiler-Simon College Scholarship, will attend the University of Chicago to pursue studies in philosophy, economics and literature. After receiving their scholarships, awardees were applauded enthusiastically by their proud parents and the NCJW BCS board members and were wished much success and happiness on the next phase of their educational journey. The scholarship committee members consisted of Grace Fuld, Phyllis Grossman-Kaplan, Peggy Kabakow , Elizabeth Warms, Henrietta Wolfeiler and Nanette Matlick and Evalyn Brownstein, co-chairs.
