MAJOR GRANT RECIPIENTS EXPRESS APPRECIATION TO NCJW BCSAt the December 2018 Board Meeting, our major grant recipients – Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative (BVMI), Center for Hope and Safety (CHS) and Youth Consultation Service (YCS) – provided an overview of their programs and thanked BCS for the funding and for the important work NCJW BCS does in the community. Here’s what they said: Amanda Missey, CEO, said “BVMI is honored to receive the award” to hire a Women’s Nurse Practitioner. The award “will be put to good use. BVMI provides more than medicine to its patients. It provides healthcare literacy and compassionate care.” Julye Myner, Executive Director, CHS, is “impressed with Bergen County Section’s commitment to serve the community.” CHS will hire a career counselor and “is happy to be part of the process to rebuild the lives of survivors of domestic violence.” Ruthie Harper, Vice President of Development, thanked BCS “for being an advocate for New Jersey’s most vulnerable children (at YCS) for over 45 years,” and said that YCS is excited to hire an Art Therapist. Dr. Mary Askew, Medical Director, remarked passionately that “art therapy is fun and non-threatening and helps children find their truth.” Indeed, BCS members’ generous personal giving contributions throughout the years are making the lives of the children, women and families we help better. |
