LUNCH AND LEARN TIMELY TOPICS AND TASTY TREATSBeing Muslim in America We are excited to present our very timely and inspiring speaker Sabeeha Rehman who will discuss “Being Muslim in America.” Ms. Rehman migrated from Pakistan to the USA in 1971 after a hurriedly-arranged marriage to a Pakistani physician in New York. She says that raising her children Muslim in the absence of a Muslim community was a daunting challenge. She worked to establish a Muslim community on Staten Island, culminating in the building of a mosque. Sabeeha holds a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration and has had a 25-year career as a hospital administrator. As the grandparent of an autistic grandson, she co-founded the National Autism Association of New York Metro and served as its president from 2008-2011. Sabeeha is a board member of the Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee. Her prize-winning memoir, “ Threading my Prayer Rug: One Woman’s Journey from Pakistani Muslim to American Muslim,” will be available to purchase at the lecture.
