JOSEPH CHUMAN SPOKE OF THE PLIGHT OF REFUGEES

On January 30th, speaking to a packed room of 60 NCJW BCS members and friends, Dr. Joseph Chuman shared his extensive knowledge of the Global Refugee Crisis and his work with the Northern New Jersey Sanctuary Coalition.

Dr. Chuman, leader of Ethical Culture in Teaneck and Professor of Human Rights at Columbia University, captivated the audience with an hour presentation of the difficult and often overwhelming struggle faced by refugees. Through stories of personal experience, he was able to bring a special understanding of their plight. He concluded by speaking about this country’s current political situation that is oppressive towards these people who are most in need.
