“Take a Walk in My Combat Boots: A personal account of women in the military”

At an NCJW BCS General Meeting held on March 20th, over 100 women had the pleasure of hearing a presentation by Jordanna Mallach; “Take a Walk in My Combat Boots: A personal account of women in the military.” Ms. Mallach gave an entertaining and vivid account of her experiences as a Jewish woman serving in the military. She shared many stories of being in command in the Army National Guard and being deployed to Afghanistan. It was particularly interesting to hear of how she was able to organize and conduct Shabbat services at Bagram Air Force Base, as well as how she has balanced her career with that of being a mother. All in all, Ms. Mallach expressed having had a very positive experience as a Jewish military officer, despite the personal sacrifices that she has had to make.
