Human Trafficking: Raising Awareness on Super Bowl Sunday

SuperBowl collageNCJW BCS, as a member of the NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking, is hoping to raise awareness about the perils of trafficking, a form of modern day slavery. During Half Time (HT) of the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7, we are asking members, friends, and families to have conversations about human trafficking (HT):  who is at risk, how it can be prevented, and our collective responsibility for ending the practice.

A few facts to stimulate talk:

  • 300,000 children at risk for being prostituted in the United States.
  • Levis Stadium (where the Super Bowl is being held this year) has a capacity of 68,500. Over 100,000 children are being trafficked every year.
  • A lot of beer, wings, and jerseys will be sold over Super Bowl weekend; so will a lot of girls.
  • Trafficking is a lucrative world-wide industry.
  • The National Human Trafficking Resource Center can be reached at 1-888-373-7888 or https://traffickingresourcecenter.org/.

We can all be game changers regardless of which team we support!
