A CELEBRATORY HIPPY GRADUATIONExcited children, proud parents, and delighted NCJW BCS volunteers celebrated the twenty-second annual HIPPY graduation held at Bergen Family Center in Englewood on June 14. The boys and girls, wearing caps and gowns, marched in to the strains of the traditional Pomp and Circumstance by Elgar. The featured speaker was eleven-year old Judy Chicas who told the audience about how her HIPPY experience was a major contributor to her success at school. In addition to congratulating the graduates, she urged them to continue their efforts as they enter kindergarten. Mitch Schonfeld, Bergen Family Center CEO, then called up each child to receive a certificate of achievement as the audience broke out into cheers. A parent wrote the following: Rachel Ventrone, HIPPY director, announced that this site has been recognized by the state as a Stellar Program for the third year in a row. HIPPY, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters, is a national program that helps parents become their child’s first teacher. |
