HIPPY Graduation 1

Left to right: Evelyn Masheb, Ellen Ptalis, Ruth Seitelman, Marietta Kalin, Phyllis Becker, Grace Fuld, Evalyn Brownstein, Ruth Dinkes, Edie Kaplan and Nan Matlick.

Twenty-six excited five-year olds, dressed in caps and gowns, celebrated at their June 11, 2015 HIPPY graduation at Bergen Family Center while proud families, teachers and National Council of Jewish Women volunteers looked on. Several boys and girls demonstrated the skills they had acquired while enrolled in the program.

HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) helps a parent gain the skills and confidence to be a child’s first teacher.

Assisted by home instructors who provide materials and guidance on a weekly basis, parents and their preschool children work together for  three years to get ready for public school.
