HIPPY CHILDREN GATHERED TO SHARE AN EVENING OF BLACK HISTORY AND LOVE

On the evening of February 12, our HIPPY children gathered to share an evening of Black History and love. First they listened to a poem entitled “This is My Dream” by Langston Hughes about a young boy who dreams of a wonderful future. Our children illustrated their dreams. You can find a bulletin board in the HIPPY office with their illustrations. The night of love continued as the children decorated Valentine mailboxes and enclosed special message cards to people they love. Pride and love were in the air when the night was over.

HIPPY, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters, is a national program that helps parents become their child’s first teacher. In Bergen County HIPPY is under the auspices of Bergen Family Center and is a program with many NCJW BCS volunteers.
