DNA RESEARCH TALK: EXPLORING YOUR ROOTS

On December 12, over forty members and friends attended the second in the series Timely Topics, Tasty Treats, which covered the very timely topic on DNA research and genealogy. Lauren Maehrlein, Vice President and Director of Programming for the Genealogical Society of Bergen County, provided concrete ways to explore family roots. To begin, she encouraged attendees to search their homes for wedding announcements, military service records, school records, death certificates, and newspaper articles.  She discussed websites that offer reliable information. See attached resource list of websites. The audience asked interesting questions, offered personal stories and was thoroughly engaged.
